Week 1 Outside of Class

This weekend I finished my 8 glyph layout sketches.

Week 1B

Today in class we went over the Shapes on a Page pdf. Then we had the rest of class to work on our assignment. We were to create 8 double page layouts using our glyph and text boxes. This is what I got done in class.

Week 1 Outside of Class

I like this glyph because it looks very elegant. I like how it curves around itself. I like how the stroke is bold but not overpowering. I like the negative space that the curves create. I feel that it has a regal personality.  There are no sharp curves or harsh angles.  Each curve is gradual and smooth. It has a heavy stroke weight which means it is regal but confidant and bold. I feel that it has a feminine feel to it. She talks with confidence but is not rude. She is very proper and does not use slang or informal language. She does not curse or use foul language; she does not lie, and does not care what other people think of her. She does not discriminate against anybody. She is willing to become friends with absolutely anyone, just as long as you are okay with her correcting your grammar.  She cannot stand racism or discrimination of any kind.  Even though she is proper and royal, she is not stuck up.  She does not look down upon anyone.  She lives in fancy clothing. She loves to wear dresses and high heels and lots of jewelry. She loves lace and the color black. She loves the color black because she feels that it portrays elegance. She also likes the color red because it is regal but also portrays fierceness. She is rich, but not a stuck-up-spoiled rich. She works hard for her money as a fashion designer. She cherishes every dollar that she has but still loves to spend it.  She loves expensive clothes and shoes. She is not a selfish person. She likes helping other people. She enjoys taking her friends out and treating them to dinner. She also donates money to animal shelters and sanctuaries. She wants to help the animals that live alongside her on this planet. She likes to hang out in any place that is elegant. She likes getting dressed up and going out to fancy restaurants. She enjoys going to A-list parties in big penthouse suites or mansions. Her favorite place to be is either on the fashion runway or sitting in the audience watching one. She also loves to be in her studio sketching ideas for new pieces of clothing. She enjoys traveling for her job as a fashion designer but feels that at some times it takes too much time away from her friends at home. Her friends are her life.

Week 1A

Today we went over the syllabus and learned the definition of a glyph.  Then we received our homework assignment. The rest of class we had time to research interesting glyphs and pick one that we liked. This is the one that I picked.
